Magnolia Madness!
TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
The Department of Recreational Sports at Mississippi State University invites you to participate in the 9th ANNUAL MAGNOLIA MADNESS! The tournament will be held the weekend of February 15 - February 17, 2013. All games will be played at the Joe Frank Sanderson Center on the campus of Mississippi State University.
The champion of both the Men's and Women's tournament will receive free entry into the National Basketball Championships held on April 5 - April 7, 2013.
Eligibility
All participating universities are allowed an unlimited number of entries into the men's and women's division. All team members must attend the same two (2) year or (4) year degree granting institution and be able to provide their school ID upon request from that institution. Students must be enrolled in at least half of full-time requirements as an undergraduate or graduate student. If a player is a graduating senior and taking less than the required credits to fulfill graduation requirements, a letter from the registrar's office along with registration materials stating this fact must be provided. Players may never have been declared a professional player, nor have played varsity basketball during the 2011-2012 academic year. Women may compete on women's teams only. One Faculty/Staff member from an institution may participate on a team if permitted by their campus' Intramural Sports program. All standard eligibility issues apply as related to your campus' Intramural Sports policies.
Tournament Format
The number of games in pool play will be based upon the number of teams registered. Pool play results will determine the seeding for the single - elimination tournament.
Registration Information
Teams must submit their registration fee and completed roster with waivers prior to the deadline to reserve their spot in the tournament. Entry fee is $225/team.
Cowbell Discounts
A $25 discount will be granted to a team's registration fee if the following criterion is met:
- The team is traveling 300 miles or more from Mississippi State University.
All claimed discounts will be pending until confirmation of distance is made by a tournament directors of Magnolia Madness or their designee.

Method of Payment
Mississippi State University will accept Cash, Money Orders, University Checks and Credit Cards as the method of payment for the tournament. Make checks payable to "Mississippi State University."

Captain's Meeting
A captain or team representative must attend the Captain's Meeting on Friday, February 15, 2013 at 5:00 PM located in the Conference Room of the Joe Frank Sanderson Center.
Official's Information
We are inviting interested officials to work this event. Officials will be provided with lodging, hospitality during the tournament, and payment of $10.00 for each game worked. If you have officials that are interested in officiating the tournament, please have them fill out an official's application and either email or mail it to Shelby Sims at the address listed on the official's application. Applications are due Monday, February 1, 2013 for consideration.
