Joe Frank Sanderson Center
Activity areas of the Sanderson Center may be reserved by contacting the Sanderson Center Manager at 325-8965 or via email at pnn3@saffairs.msstate.edu. Reservation requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis and are subject to availability of the space. As per University OP64.01, those using facilities may be required to reimburse for any costs incident to the use of the facility and are required to pay a fee when the use of the facility is for the purpose of producing revenue (hourly rate + 10% of any gate fee).
Aerobic Studios
Aerobic Studios
The Joe Frank Sanderson Center offers 3 aerobic studios for a number of different activities.
- Studio A, the largest of the 3 studios at 3824 square feet, is designed for dancing and aerobics. It will accommodate approximately 60 people. The studio features mirrored walls and mats. The sound system is restricted to Recreational Sports employees and university course instructors.
- Studio B is geared toward martial arts and combative sports such as boxing and kickboxing. It is 2324 square feet and will accommodate approximately 40 people. The studio features padded walls, a heavy bag and stretching/ballet bars. The sound system is restricted to Recreational Sports employees and university course instructors.
- Studio C, at 1880 square feet, is an all-purpose studio featuring mirrored walls, mats, and privacy curtain. It can be used for most all activities and will accommodate approximately 30 people. Groups needing privacy to practice dance routines or other activities will be assigned to Studio C.

Auxiliary Gym
Auxiliary Gym
The Sanderson Center's Auxiliary Gym has a capacity for 785 people. The Auxiliary gym can be configured to
set up 2 basketball courts or 2 volleyball courts or 1 basketball court with arena seating. The gym also
features 2 electronic scoreboards and bleachers with the capacity to seat 200.
The Auxiliary Gym is available for reservation except when intramurals are in session or when a HPERS class is scheduled. This allows us to always accommodate our patrons with open recreation opportunities. There may be other times that are not suitable for reservation as well - these times will be determined by the Sanderson Center Manager.

The boardroom style Sanderson Conference Room is a designed to accommodate up to 20 people. It features
a drop-down projection screen, dry erase whiteboards, a podium, and a live Ethernet connection.

Officials training Center
Officials training Center
The Sanderson Center's OTC (Officials training Center) is a classroom-style facility designed to
accommodate up to 40 people + instructors. The room features a dry erase whiteboard, TV + VCR, a podium
and a powered multimedia projection screen as well as a live Ethernet connection.

Swimming Pool Parties
Swimming Pool Parties
The swimming pool at the Sanderson Center is available for parties, competitions, and other activities.
All groups must make a request for a party at least 1 week in advance and must be approved by the Aquatics
Director. Pool parties do not grant exclusive use of the pool.
- 10-35 participants ............$40/hour
- 36-50 participants ............$50/hour
- 50 + Groups should call for prices
* University Recognized Organizations receive a $25 discount on all pool parties.
* You must have a minimum of 10 people to qualify as a party.
Pool Party Policies
Pool Party Policies:
- Guests are only allowed to use the facility during the approved time.
- Shoes are required while walking through the facility.
- Do not run on the pool deck.
- Parties are restricted to the Recreational (shallow) side of the pool unless authorized to enter
the Lap (lanes 9 &10) side by the Lifeguards on duty.
- Anyone allowed into the Lap side of the pool must pass a swim test.
- The lifeguards reserve the right to restrict any swimmer to the Recreational side.
- Weak or non-swimmers must wear a life vest and be within an arms reach of an adult (in the Recreational Side).
- Do not dive in the shallow area of the pool.
- Do not hang on lane-lines. They cannot support a weak or tired swimmer.
- Glass containers, band-aids, and chewing gum are not allowed.
- Excessive or dangerous horseplay is not allowed (flips, standing on shoulders, piggy-back rides, dunking, etc).
- Vulgar or offensive music or actions are not allowed. All music must be kept at a reasonable level.
- Please keep all food in the natatorium or on the sun deck.
- Guests are restricted to the swimming pool and locker rooms. They are not allowed into other parts of the facility.
- Guests are responsible for setup and cleanup. A $100 cleanup fee will be charged if the natatorium and sun deck are not properly cleaned after a rental.
- Guests are responsible for picking up trash and personal items.
- Lifeguards are responsible for sweeping / washing the deck and emptying trashcans.
- Please keep chairs, tables, and personal belongings clear of exits and rescue equipment.
- Guests are responsible for replacing any broken facility equipment.
** All guests must obey the lifeguards at all times. Individuals who fail to abide by Recreational Sports and Aquatics policies will be asked to leave the facility.
The Department of Recreational Sports is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items.

Other activity spaces that may be reserved include the Rec. Room, Climbing Wall, and Lounge. Activity
areas that may not be reserved are the Strength & Aerobic Conditioning Room and the track. The Main Gym
may be reserved under special circumstances only as approved by the Sanderson Center Manager and the
Director of Recreational Sports.
