 Adult Lessons

Thank you for taking an interest in our Learn-To-Swim Program. Swimming is not only a fun activity, but can be a lifesaving skill. Our prime concern is always safety. Only certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors will be teaching you. Classes begin with a pool and water safety lesson. You will learn pool safety and what to do if someone is in trouble. The first class meeting is also an assessment of your swimming skills. This will help the instructor know how to plan the rest of the course. Some people take to the water more easily than others do. We do not guarantee a certain level of progress in the course. We hope you have a great time in the course, but more importantly, learn to be safe around water. The cost of the course is $30 and usually lasts for 2 weeks.

 Children Lessons

The structure of the children lessons are much like the adult lessons. Since we want your child to enjoy water, we encourage participation through fun activities rather than force them to do something they are scared of. The cost of the course is $40 and usually includes 8 sessions (usually spread over 2 weeks). AAfter completing the course, some children go on to join the Starkville community swim team. For more information about Shock Wave Aquatic Team (SWAT), please call the club president, Dr. Billy Kingery, at 325-2748 or visit www.msswat.org.
